“The Hoff” Returns Again
by thetodaynews on Jul.26, 2010, under celebs, pop culture
David Hasselhoff has been on TV for the better part of 35 years now, starring in soap operas, prime time and syndicated action shows, and reality performance shows. He even managed to find time to become a pop star in Germany.
Not wanting to be one-upped by other celebrity dads such as Gene Simmons, Hulk Hogan, and Bruce Jenner-Kardashian who have reality shows detailing the misadventures of their own families, David Hasselhoff is apparently gearing up for a reality show of his own, “The Hasselhoffs”, which will also feature daughters Taylor Ann Hasselhoff and Hayley Hasselhoff.
If this new reality show doesn’t last, The Hoff can always go back to singing pop songs in Germany. Because those Germans just looooove David Hasselhoff…
We Still Love our Aging Rock Stars
by thetodaynews on Jul.12, 2010, under celebs, entertainment
Bands such as Bon Jovi and KISS have been writing hits and touring for decades for one simple reason: they rock.
Unfortunately our lifelong stage heroes are starting to show their age. Jon Bon Jovi suffered a painful torn calf muscle while performing in his home state of New Jersey on Friday, but the singer/actor/arena-football-team-owner continued to perform and finish out the show to the delight of the fans.
Jon’s injury comes at a time when several prominent rock bands are stumbling, literally.
The most famous rock band on-stage injury was star Steven Tyler’s fall from the stage in 2009, which resulted in a broken shoulder and the end of Aerosmith. A less damaging, but still embarrassing, tumble was delivered by KISS’ Paul Stanley a few years ago when he slid (intentionally) across the stage into a live camera (not intentionally) during a nationally televised performance.
Lindsay Lohan’s Newest Bracelet: a SCRAM
by thetodaynews on May.26, 2010, under celebs
Lindsay Lohan’s newest fashion accessory is a bracelet, but you can’t buy this one on Rodeo Drive.
She is the newest unwilling celebrity endorser of the SCRAM ankle bracelet, a tamper-resistant device that can monitor alcohol intake. What does SCRAM stand for? SCRAM is an acronym for “Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor”.
LiLo earned the device when she missed a probation hearing as part of her 2007 arrest for drunken driving, reckless driving and driving under the influence of cocaine.
But why did Lohan miss the probation hearing in the first place? She claims to have lost her passport after a week of partying at the Cannes film festival and not being able to return to the US in time. We’ve all had that happen to us at one time or another, right?
Who Will Play “Wonder Woman”?
by thetodaynews on Apr.27, 2010, under celebs

A “Wonder Woman” movie project has been in perpetual development limbo for the better part of a decade, but it now appears the project is back on track again, with a film tentatively scheduled to be released in 2011.
A modern movie version of the comic book and 1970s TV Amazonian heroine has long been expected, given the successes of big screen comic book characters The Incredible Hulk, Spiderman and Batman.
Although both Jennifer Love Hewitt and Beyonce have expressed strong interest recently in portraying the scantily clad super-heroine, we at TheTodayNews.com would have to give the nod to Jessica Biel.
Ms. Biel had been offered the role in a 2007 version of the project which she ultimately passed on. In interviews since then though, she has expressed interest if the movie script contains “a real developed character.”
Jessica Biel is certainly developed enough for the role.
Spock Retires
by thetodaynews on Apr.21, 2010, under celebs
Actor Leonard Nimoy, best known for his recurring role as Spock in the Star Trek television and movie franchise, has announced he will retire from acting after his current stint in the Fox TV series Fringe ends this season.
In the past the 79-year-old actor had tried to distance himself from the typecasting that comes with playing such an iconic role, going so far as to title his 1975 autobiography “I Am Not Spock”.
But Nimoy couldn’t deny the huge paychecks that could be had by strapping on the pointy ears, later agreeing to star in seven Star Trek films and the Star Trek: The Next Generation TV series.
Sandra Bullock, Best AND Worst Actress?
by thetodaynews on Feb.03, 2010, under celebs, entertainment
Sandra Bullock has just earned a rare Oscar/Razzie nomination duo, getting an Oscar Best Actress nomination for her role in “The Blind Side” and a Razzie Worst Actress nomination for her role in “All About Steve”.
Can she pull off a movie awards bifecta?
We have a The Today News .com staffer who is a voting member of the Razzies, and he says he won’t vote for, er, against Ms. Bullock. Will that be enough to spare her an embarrassing Razzie win? We’ll find out March 6 when the Razzie winners are announced!
Charlize Theron Now Available
by thetodaynews on Jan.31, 2010, under celebs
Todays winner, er loser, in the “I Waited Too Long” category is Charlize Theron’s longtime boyfriend Stuart Townsend.
After nine years of dating with only a “commitment ring” (whatever that is) to show for it, Charlize dumped the Irish actor following a Christmas vacation in Mexico.
America’s Fattest City Breaks Celebrity Chef
by thetodaynews on Jan.22, 2010, under celebs, food
Television chef Jamie Oliver broke down in tears of frustration while filming his new series “Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution USA”, which aims to reform the eating habits of America’s fattest city, Huntington, West Virginia.
The residents of Huntington, over 50% of whom are obese, were blatantly uninterested in the chef’s healthy eating tips, and some residents were outwardly hostile to some of his suggestions.
When local schoolchildren were shown tomatoes hanging on a vine, they were unable to correctly identify the food.
Did they consider “tomater” a correct answer?

Simon Cowell Leaving ‘American Idol’
by thetodaynews on Jan.12, 2010, under celebs, entertainment
Simon Cowell has announced he is leaving “American Idol” after this season to launch the American version of his musical reality talent show “X-Factor”.
Cowell, who already has judging duties on Britain’s “X-Factor” and “Britain’s Got Talent”, says he would have been stretched too thin if he tried to add the American “X-Factor” to his current continent-hopping workload which includes “American Idol”.
Fortunately, we at TheTodayNews.com don’t have to worry about getting Simon withdrawal; we’ll continue to get berated by a virtual Simon every time we sing on the Wii “American Idol” game!
